Arc-Fault Circuit Interrupters (AFCI's)
AFCIs function by monitoring the electrical waveform and promptly opening (interrupting) the circuit they serve if they detect changes in the wave pattern that are characteristic of a dangerous arc. They also must be capable of distinguishing safe, normal arcs, such as those created when a switch is turned on or a plug is pulled from a receptacle, from arcs that can cause fires. On a recent home inspection there was a tree that was too close to the home. Not only was it too close to the home, it was touching a chimney. It's very important to maintain seperation from your chimney to any combustible materials. You also don't want your vegetation to be touching your soffits. As a home inspector I recommend they trim there tree.
